The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show

The best supercars at Geneva Motor Show 2013
The Geneva Motor Show is, without a doubt, the biggest auto show of the year for exotic cars, and this year there have been so many that we have already decided that this is the Year of the Supercar. Granted, there were some more pedestrian offerings that wowed us this year as well.

We've been pouring over the many rides and we think these are The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
25. KTM X-Bow GT
You know you want a KTM X-Bow, but sometimes you don't want to deal with having to wear a helmet just to go for a drive. We're not sure it qualifies as a "GT" but it's certainly the most luxurious X-Bow in the range, because it has a windshield.

24. Sbarro React EV
EV doesn't stand for "Electric Vehicle" here, it stands for "Ecological Vehicle." The Sbarro Reach EV is hybrid powered by a 210 hp Peugeot I4 and two 137 hp electric motors. The end result is a 484 hp hybrid that is set to appear this year at the Monte Carlo Rallye of New Energies.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
23. Wiesmann GT MF4-CS
It may look like it was designed about 80 years ago, but the race-ready suspension and 420 hp BMW V8 mean that it won't drive like it. Any car that comes stock with a roll cage and a fire extinguisher is meant to be driven hard.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
22. Audi A3 G-Tron
When Audi announced that the company had built a plant that takes carbon emission out of the air and turns them back into fuel, we all had a "why didn't I think of that?" moment. This is the gasoline or E-Gas – as they call it – powered first car to utilize that system.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
21. C7 Corvette Convertible
When someone says "Corvette" they're usually thinking of a convertible, so this, while completely unsurprising, is a big deal. We think the new body lends it self well to toplessness, and we can't wait to see the C7 drop top in the wild.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
20. Carlsson SLK 340 Judd
The Mercedes-Benz SLK is a nice little roadster, but this particular SLK is nothing short of beastly. It weighs under 1,800 lbs and produces 610 hp. Needless to say, it's going to be very fast.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
19. GTA Spano
Spain used to be home to some of the world's most impressive automakers, like Hispano-Suiza, but after WW2 those largely died out. The GTA Spano is a massive expanse of carbon fiber that looks well poised to change that. The 900 hp engine doesn't hurt either.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
18. Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale
It's not as fast as the Ferraris of the world, or as practical as a wagon, but the newest top end GranTurismo might be the best jack of all trades on the market. This is a car that can transport four people very comfortably, carry a lot of stuff, and still kick some ass on the track.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
17. Toyota FT-86 Open Concept
We all knew that a drop top Toyota GT-86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ was en route, but that doesn't mean that we're not excited. Now there's a real alternative to the Mazda MX-5 Miata, and it's comparison test time.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
16. Kia Provo
Is Kia looking to create a Mini for people who can't afford a mini? If the sporty looking Provo concept does eventually translate to a production car, we'd be happy. A quick, affordable hatchback with an interior even similar to this one would be awesome.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
15. Mercedes A45 AMG
We know that we're going to get the CLA45 AMG, which will be almost exactly the same, but we'd really prefer the smaller footprint and greater versatility of this amazing 360 hp AWD wonder. Think of it as a luxurious and more powerful version of a Subaru WRX STI

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
14. Subaru Viziv Crossover Concept
Testing a new design language, Subaru unveiled the Viziv Crossover Concept this week to solid response. There is some radical change to the typical Subaru at play—replacing the traditional AWD with a hybrid setup of a diesel engine (powering the front wheels) and two independent electric motors (driving the rear axle)—married to an evolution of the Japanese automakers hallmark aesthetics. For example, the hexagonal front grille remains. We can't wait to see the road ready production version (and are keeping fingers crossed that it arrives soon).

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
13. Spyker B6 Venator
We're happy to see that Spyker is not just still swinging, but is moving a bit downmarket as well. The look of this little mid-engined Porsche 911 competitor has us very hopeful for whatever the Saab Phoenix based car the company has in the works will look like.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
12. Bentley Flying Spur
Bentley's showing at the Geneva Motor Show does not scream for your attention or immediately catch your eye, and that's what makes it great. It's grand and luxurious, but it's not obnoxious, which is difficult to achieve in a giant luxury sedan like this.

It's classy, practical, and luxurious, but built on the lightning fast Continental GT's bones, and that means it sounds awesome.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
11. Touring Superlaggera Disco Volante
The Alfa Romeo 8C was certainly one of the most beautiful cars in the world, but we must say that this Touring Superlaggera coachbuilt 8C, called the Disco Volante, after the '52 Alfa of the same name, looks even better.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
10. Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra
Koenigegg is the other hypercar manufacturer; the owner greets people in person at Pebble Beach, the cars are usually made to a customer's specification, nobody can spell the name, and now, all the cars are made of as much carbon fiber as possible. The Agera S Hundra even has carbon fiber wheels.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
9. Volkswagen XL1
This is, by far, the slowest and least powerful car at the Geneva show right now. Despite the acceleration that needs to be measured with a calendar (11.8 seconds to 60mph) and a total power rating of 60 hp, the XL1 is amazing, because it returns 260 miles per gallon. You could drive from New York to LA on $40 in this thing.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
8. Pininfarina Sergio
Pininfarina knew that the tribute to the late Sergio Pininfarina had to be good, we're talking about the guy who designed the Ferrari Testarossa, so a bit of effort was no doubt put into designing this Ferrari 458-based car.

The best part is that company reps have said that more can be built if some customers step forward.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
7. Rolls-Royce Wraith
The knock on Rolls-Royce is that it isn't for people who drive. Those days, thanks to the Wraith, are numbered. With 624 horsepower, the coupe promises a 0-60 of 4.4 seconds. Basically, it competes with the Bentley Continental GT. And, essentially, it offers everything in cars you'd want in cars. Plus, obviously, unparalleled luxury.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
6. Alfa Romeo 4C
Yes, we know that you're probably getting tired of hearing about this car, but we're still not tired of writing about it so here it is again in production form at long last. We love everything about except the headlight cluster; which looks cheap and plasticky. If it were a different material, we might like the weird, bug-eyed look though.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
5. Bertone Jet 2+2
For the fabulously wealthy man with children and a ton of crap to haul around, there's this: Bertone's Aston Martin Rapide wagon called the Bertone Jet 2+2. We think this might be the best all round car in the world.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
4. McLaren P1
Everybody was afraid that McLaren's successor to the legendary F1 wouldn't live up to its predecessor, but it doesn't seem like we have to worry about that; this tech filled hypercar will surely be one of the best track rats of this decade.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
3. Ferrari LaFerrari
We've already told you that we think this name is stupid. F70 or Enzo II would have been great, but LaFerrari beyond terrible.

That said, the car itself looks like a worthy successor to the Enzo's fame, what with its 949 horsepower KERS hybrid powertrain, futuristic greenhouse, and pointy, pointy nose. We just can't wait to see more of it in action.

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
2. Lamborghini Veneno
Some seem to think that Lamborghini's new $3.9 Million hypercar, the Veneno, is too cartoonish, but we think that's stupid. Except for the Miura, all Lamborghinis are cartoonish, and that's a big part of their charm. The Veneno is just a Lambo Aventador that has been turned up to 12 (given that the Aventador had already been turned up to 11).

The 25 Coolest Cars of the Geneva Motor Show
1. Italdesign Giugiaro Parcour
This is essentially a V10 Lamborghini off-roader, and that makes it the craziest and most impressive concept of the year. We really want to see someone tackle a rally stage in this thing. Perhaps Top Gear is up to the task.
