Aug.30 - 2009 world champion Jenson Button is fully prepared for deal extension at McLaren Mercedes. The Champ joined the McLaren on a two-year, £6 million contract in 2009 with a choice to extend it by a further year.
Button and team point to that they need to extend the working relationship, but McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh is keen to tie Button down to a multi-year contract while Jenson Button hopes the team triggers the one-year opportunity.
Question about the next year deal, Button replied: "Well, if he (Whitmarsh) takes up the option... All he has to do is say yes, and I will say yes because I want to be here next year.
"It's up to the team as to when they approach me, but for me I'm the happiest I've been with the car."
But, according to Telegraph Sport 'both sides is to agree a long-term deal which will suit both parties - Button will seek to cut down the number of PR days and sponsorship activities he must perform - McLaren are known to work their drivers harder than any other team - while the team, whose business model is sponsor-driven, will seek to strike the right balance between his salary and their commercial revenues.'
