Jorge Lorenzo started pessimistic about his chances to retain his MotoGP world champion. The Yamaha rider admitted, it is difficult for him to stem the Repsol Honda rider, Casey Stoner, to seize the crown champions this season.
Aragon GP results on Sunday (09.18.11), which makes this Spaniard began to think realistically. When he finished at number three, Stoner is so dominant and can not be matched by anyone, for the number one podium. As a result, Stoner's victory was made more firmly on top and for a while winning 44 points.
Mathematically, Lorenzo still has a chance to pursue the former world champion 2007. With four series remaining, there is still a total of 100 points up for grabs. However, the facts showing that the Australian rider is always consistent, making Lorenzo began to doubt the chances.
"I think the surprise is just lagging 44 points behind Casey, because he has dominated this competition, and he has won many races.
"So, are close to him is not too bad. Our hope now is to hopefully there is something going on. Hopefully not a bad thing against Casey, but without it, almost impossible."
Lorenzo, who left 14 seconds of Stoner in the race at Motorland Aragon, said that one major factor in the race for the title of this 2011 is a significant development of the Honda RC212V engine performance. Imagine, the motor has reached 10 victories from a total of 14 series that have been acted, only one less than HRC victory in four years earlier.
Lorenzo said: "At the end of last year, Honda did a step forward, and they are very fast and competitive. This year, they increased considerably since the beginning of the season.
"We at Yamaha won three world titles in a row, and the triple crown champion, so we were a little bit quiet, and not take so many risks. Honda has never won again, and they've done a great job."
