Harry Styles Jaguar e type |
He famously paid £15,000 to insure his second-hand Range Rover Sport.
So the price for covering Harry Styles' brand new Audi R8 Coupe was probably through the roof.
Especially when he's just turned 18, just passed his driver's test, and the car goes from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with a a top speed of 196mph.
Not to mention that the vehicle is worth more than £100,000 and he's likely to cover a lot of miles visiting his family in northwest England, and fulfilling his band commitments.
The One Direction star showed off his new ride as he arrived home to his parents' house in Cheshire.
He was greeted by dozens of fans who regularly camp outside the property hoping to catch a glimpse of the teenager.
Harry looked suave in the black vehicle, which has grey panels on each side.
He dressed casually for his day off in a beige jacket with sheepskin interior over a white hooded jumper and T-shirt, with black jeans.
He has just returned from Australia and New Zealand with his bandmates for their tour Down Under.
He revealed to Radio 1 yesterday that the boys are planning to have six weeks off to recover from their massive trip, which also included several performances stateside.
The cars of Harry Styles: Ford Capri
One Direction star Harry Styles has a serious penchant for fast cars - but his recent drive in a classic Ford Capri shows he knows a thing or two about older cars, too. Styles recently rolled up at the recording studio in this white Capri, the darling of the 1970s British sports car scene. Although the fast Ford was originally considered off-the-pace, it has since become something of a cult classic. That reputation will only be reinforced among One Direction fans, presumably.
The cars of Harry Styles: Audi R8
From fast Fords to outrageous Audis, Harry Styles seems to have a penchant for the more sophisticated contemporary sports cars too. Although just 19, the One Direction star was regularly seen in the Audi R8, the V8 and V10-engined supercar which launched previously sensible Audi into the upper echelons of the exotica club. It is a rival to the Porsche 911 and Ferrari 458 Italia - the cheapest R8 today costs a fulsome £92,000.
Harry Styles was first photographed in the Audi R8 supercar on a visit to his parents house in Cheshire. It was a dark gun grey metallic R8, with the optional metallic silver side blades running from the air intake up the flank of the car. It's a far cry from the red MINI Styles passed his test in earlier in the year.
Harry Styles car accident imagine
I looked at her sleeping body. Watching her chest slowly rise and fall with each breath. I was so scared, I didn’t want to lose the love of my life. I grabbed her hand and lightly squeezed it, I could feel the slow pulse. (Y/N) had been in a coma for about a month now. I wish I could go back in time and change what had happened. To prevent the horrible accident that I was lucky enough to get away with just a broken arm and a few stitches, but (Y/N), she wasn’t as lucky.
The cars of Harry Styles: Jaguar E-type
Harry Styles' meteoric rise to fame has brought riches and opportunity galore. He might have passed his driving test in a red MINI, but months later he was spotted testing this classic Jaguar E-type in matching red. Considered by many to be the most beautiful car of all time, the E-type remains the epitome of British cool - a real style icon. Will Styles be remembered with such reverence in years to come? Only time will tell.
This beautiful Jaguar E-type is in stunning condition - it's a 1975 E-type with a 5.3-litre V12 engine. Styles returned to it with the hood up, leaving bystanders wondering if his perpetually immaculate hair-do would fit inside the snug cabin.
The cars of Harry Styles: Porsche 911 Sport Classic
Here's another classic sports car with a twist: it's the last-generation Porsche 911, dubbed 997 by Porschephiles. But it's one of the most interesting variants ever made: the rare 911 Sport Classic, a souped-up version of the 911 distinguished by a ducktail spoiler reminiscent of the classic 1970s 2.7 RS - the best-loved 911 of all time. This car appears to be registered to Porsche GB, which suggests Styles borrowed it for a test drive.
The 911 Sport Classic driven by Harry Styles was a low-volume special run of the outgoing 997 generation of the iconic Porsche range. Built in 2011, it cost £140,049 and made 402hp from its 3.8-litre flat six engine. End result? The Sport Classic could scamper from 0-62mph in just 4.6 seconds and Porsche claimed a top speed of 187mph. Not that Styles tested that on his drive in London.
The cars of Harry Styles: Ferrari California
The One Direction star has also driven the Ferrari California convertible. The poseur's choice in the Ferrari range, the California is a grand tourer which can convert from coupe to cabriolet on account of its folding hard top. But when Harry Styles drove it, it was all drop-top, alfresco glamour the whole way.
The California might be good for posing in - a crucial attribute for any One Direction band member - but it's also a serious sports car in its own right. Crafted from aluminium to keep weight low, the Ferrari Cali is powered by a 4.3-litre V8 good for 483hp and Maranello says that's enough for 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds. That's long enough to zoom away from any crowd of stalking teenage girls or paparazzi. Well, just about...
The cars of Harry Styles: Range Rover Sport
Here's a firm favourite of Harry Styles - his very own Range Rover Sport. It's a practical car for a One Direction member, with plenty of space for bandmates, security guards and tour bags. But it's not exactly cheap to run. In line with Styles' other cars, it has sky-high running costs for a teenager. The Sun claimed it cost Styles £15,000 to insure, after he bought it off his stepdad. There's only One Direction for Styles' motoring costs: up!
